Laser Tissue Regeneration in Brooklyn, NY

Low-level laser therapy that supports healing of gum and bone after treatment.

What Is Laser Tissue Regeneration?

Laser-assisted tissue regeneration uses focused light energy to stimulate the body’s natural healing and growth processes in damaged or deficient oral tissues. The laser promotes cellular activity, increases blood flow, and accelerates the repair of soft tissue and, in some applications, bone. This technology allows the practice to support healing after surgical procedures, enhance the outcomes of periodontal treatment, and encourage tissue recovery in areas affected by disease or trauma.

Who Laser Tissue Regeneration Is For

Low-level laser light, also called photobiomodulation, increases blood flow and cell activity in the area treated. It is used to support healing after another procedure, not as a replacement for it.

  • Recovery after gum or bone grafting
  • Healing after extractions or implant placement
  • Patients who heal slowly, for example with diabetes
  • Sore or slow-healing surgical sites
  • A wish to reduce swelling and discomfort after surgery

Laser Tissue Regeneration at Bensonhurst Dental Care

At Bensonhurst Dental Care, laser tissue regeneration is provided by Dr. Alex Rubinshtein as part of the practice’s comprehensive approach to healing and recovery. The laser is applied to the treatment site using specific wavelengths and energy levels calibrated to promote regeneration without damaging surrounding healthy tissue. The treatment is non-invasive, painless, and requires no anesthesia. It can be performed as a standalone therapy or as an adjunct to other treatments to enhance healing.

What to Expect, Step by Step

  1. Assessment. We confirm the site is suitable.
  2. Laser application. The laser is held over the tissue for a few minutes without touching it.
  3. Repeat sessions. Sessions are repeated over the following days or weeks.
  4. Monitoring. Healing is checked at each visit.

Where low-level laser therapy is used

SituationAimTypical number of sessions
After gum graftingLess swelling and faster soft tissue healing1 to 3
After extractions or implantsGreater comfort and healing support1 to 3
Around bone graftsSupport for the healing responseSeveral, over weeks

The laser does not heal tissue. It gives the body better conditions in which to heal itself.

Recovery and Aftercare

After laser treatment

The first 24 hours

  • Follow the instructions for the main procedure you had
  • Eat and drink as advised for that procedure
  • No special precautions are needed for the laser session itself

The following days

  • Attend all planned sessions
  • Keep the area clean as instructed
  • Avoid smoking, which slows healing

When to Call Us

Call the office on (718) 234-3434 if you notice any of the following:

  • Healing seems to stall
  • Pain or swelling increases
  • You notice pus or a bad taste

Where It Is Most Useful

Laser tissue regeneration is particularly valuable following periodontal procedures such as pocket reduction surgery, gum grafting, or bone grafting, where supporting the body’s healing response directly impacts the quality and speed of recovery. It is also used in conjunction with LANAP, which inherently incorporates laser energy to stimulate regeneration of bone and connective tissue attachment around the teeth.

Cost and Insurance

Laser treatment is priced by the procedure, not by the use of the laser itself. You are told the fee before treatment.

What affects the cost

  • The procedure being carried out
  • The number of teeth or areas treated
  • The number of sessions needed
  • Whether the laser is used alone or alongside another treatment

Insurance usually covers a laser procedure in the same way as the conventional version of that procedure. Therapy sessions for pain relief may not be covered. Our team can check your benefits and explain your options before treatment begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does laser tissue regeneration work?

The laser delivers specific wavelengths of light energy to the treatment area, which stimulates cellular metabolism, promotes new blood vessel formation, and accelerates the production of collagen and other tissue components. This enhances the body’s natural ability to heal and rebuild.

Is the treatment painful?

No. Laser tissue regeneration is completely painless. Most patients feel only a gentle warmth during the treatment. No anesthesia is needed.

How many sessions are needed?

The number of sessions depends on the condition being treated and the desired outcome. Some patients benefit from a single session after a surgical procedure, while others may require multiple sessions over several weeks for optimal results. Dr. Alex designs a treatment schedule based on each case.

Can laser regeneration replace bone grafting?

Laser regeneration supports and enhances healing but does not replace the need for grafting material in cases of significant bone loss. It is most effective when used in combination with grafting procedures to improve the rate and quality of bone and tissue regeneration.

Who benefits most from laser tissue regeneration?

Patients recovering from periodontal surgery, implant procedures, or soft tissue grafts benefit most. It is also useful for patients with slower healing responses or those who want to support recovery after any invasive dental treatment.

I almost have no words for how happy i am with my entire experience with bensenhurst dental, but that wouldn't be me. For 15 years, due to genetics & bad dentistry, i thought i was going to be dealing with my two missing teeth for the rest of my life. My smile was never really a smile. It was a half smile, a hidden smile, a fake one. I was bullied about it. & I have aways been insecure about it. I have cried endlessly about how difficult it was on a daily basis to have this hanging over me. I have been embarassed to smile big. The hospitality field is my passion. & it is extremely hard to not smile all day at guests or clients for sometimes over 12 hours a day. To feel confident in your people skills while worrying if you've smiled too big was a personal hell I've gotten used to. But i was tired. I am a happy person, a grateful person & i needed my smile back. Fast forward to november 2021. The pandemic is dying down. Self love/care is at an all time high & so is self awareness. & thanks to my superhero mom i was able to get in this office. By this time I had watched the new smile videos for 3 years. But this time, I was determined to get mine. I was scared. I was uncomfortable. I was hoping for the best but this wasn't new for me. And then, i met dr. Marina. After that, the rest was history. The fear was history. I knew I was in hands that would care about me. & she did. Straight to the point, telling me what i needed like a mom would. I went from my skin crawling because of dentistry tools around me, to laughing & joking in the matter of 5 minutes. In 5 minutes she took years of a fear of uncertainty that has kept me from my smile & turned it into trust. Turned it into hope. My next visit i saw Dr Geoffrey. This was the surgery. The last time i had a needle before this I passed out. But he waited until i felt comfortable & here came more trust. Two 6 hour gum surgeries on different days. I didn't feel a thing sitting in that chair. What i do know is that i couldn't appreciate the detail more. My gums have never felt this good. Ever. Also, he debunked morning breath, its a lie, get your gums checked. I have only had my new smile for a day. & it might take me a while to get used to changing all the habits i had when i had to worry. But I wokeup this morning & couldn't believe my reflection. Is this really my mouth?! It is & I really cannot thank bensenhurst dental enough for their family oriented office & detailed care you give to your clients. I never once felt like i was around anyone who didn't have my best interests or feelings at heart. You didn't just give me my first real smile, you gave me my personality back. The one that was hiding under all those habits. I'm so thankful that i followed through with this office & I wouldn't tell anyone to go anywhere else. Thank you so much to the entire team. You brought me back to life. They aren't just out here fixing smiles, they are out here changing people's whole lives. I love you guys!!
